What’s the difference between greenwash and a credible sustainability effort? Performance metrics.

“Greenwashing” happens when an organization spends a lot of time—and a lot of dollars—creating an image of sustainability they can’t back up with data. Metrics are the key to determining the real impact of “green” programs. Concept Green knows how to get them, which ones matter, and how to use metrics to determine and communicate the impact of a credible sustainability program.

We work with you to identify, consolidate and monitor your organization’s sustainability performance through key performance indicators (KPIs) that measure your efforts. We work with Global Reporting Initiative, Dow Jones Sustainability Assessments and the Carbon Disclosure Project KPIs as well as other industry-specific measures and standard disclosure guidelines.

Here are some of our performance measurement services:

Scorecards and dashboards that provide at-a-glance performance and progress of your sustainability goals

Environmental footprint that shows your organization’s water, energy, fleet fuel, wastes, emissions and pollutants. The footprint is a great starting point to evaluate reduction strategy areas.

Waste audits and assessments that inventory your waste streams (municipal, universal, hazardous, low-level radioactive, regulated medical wastes, pharmaceutical wastes, fly ash and other wastes)

Dow Jones Sustainability Assessments that quantify your organization’s sustainability performance across the social, economic, environmental and climate risk dimensions.

Recycling performance measures that include total wastes generated, disposed and recycled by waste stream, facility and business unit.

Greenhouse gas inventories that quantify your direct and indirect emissions, break down the sources of your emissions and project a “business as usual” trajectory of future emissions against your emissions reduction goals

We can also provide third party review of your internal measures, assessments and calculations to make sure you’re measuring your sustainability performance correctly.
